Add Price Items

Price Items define how costs are calculated or distributed in your Price List.

  • A Price List
  • Admin or Contributor permissions
  • Assets assigned to at least one Billing Account

Price items work in three ways:

  • Fixed unit price: Define how the price is calculated (per asset or fixed) and let vScope calculate the total
  • Split total cost (Chargeback/Showback): Define a total cost and let vScope split it across Billing Accounts
  • Manual: Add the quantity in the agreement. Use when the quantity cannot be found in vScope’s asset repository.

Once you know what type of pricing you need, create the Price Item:

  1. Open a Price List in Price List Overview
  2. Click Create Price Item

Choose how the Price Item should work:

  • Fixed unit price: vScope calculates the total based on assets or a fixed rule
  • Split total cost: vScope splits a total cost across Billing Accounts
  • Manual: Quantity is manually updated by the user.

The fields shown depend on the selected type:

If you selected “Calculate cost”

  • Choose Asset type
  • Define how quantity is calculated:
    • Per asset
    • Based on a tag value
  • (Optional) Add filters
  • Set Price, Unit, and Currency

vScope calculates the total cost based on matching assets.

If you selected “Split total cost”

  • Enter a Monthly Total
  • Choose how to distribute it:
    • Equally between assets
    • Based on tag value
  • (Optional) Define scope or filters

If you selected “Manual”

  • Enter the unit price
  • The quantity is added on each agreement under Edit > Add price item

Finally, click Save to add the price to the price list.
