Template Section Types

Use these section types when designing Governance templates. Each type controls what data is shown or edited on an entity page.

  • Table of assets directly associated with the entity (e.g., servers, databases, certificates).
  • Pulled live from the asset repository; updates automatically with Discovery.
  • Use for “things that power this entity.”
  • Table of relationships between Governance entities (e.g., Service ↔ Vendor, Service ↔ Country).
  • Shows dependency links, and fields from the connected entity.
  • Use to map how entities relate to each other.
  • Form inputs for structured details (owner, criticality, security level, contacts, notes).
  • Best for descriptive or governance metadata that isn’t discovered automatically.
  • Supports text/number/dropdown and other field types defined in the template.
  • Table of assets indirectly associated with the entity through relations (e.g., assets supporting a linked dependency).
  • Useful for impact views that traverse one hop away.
  • Keeps the main Assets section focused while still exposing indirect impact.

Tips

  • Use Related Assets when you want to e.g., view the users in the group that is part of an IT service.
  • If assets are not available in the asset repository, you can add manual input to represent an asset.
  • Use Fields for anything humans curate; use Assets/Related Assets for discovered data.
  • Add Entity Relationships to make ownership and dependencies clear for downstream teams.
