Discovery Proxy FAQ

Depending on your update settings, proxies are automatically updated when initiated by the main vScope server. If a proxy hasn’t been updated, manually download and reinstall the proxy agent. Proxies with different version than master will not work for discovery.

Does the Skip List apply to proxy scanning?

Section titled “Does the Skip List apply to proxy scanning?”

Yes. Skip/exclude rules apply to scans from both the main vScope and proxies.

You can either rerun the installer, or configure the port in config.ini on both the proxy and the master: proxy.master.port=<port>.

If a proxy loses its connection to the main vScope, it will pause its activities until the connection is restored. Ensure that the network between the proxy and the main vScope is stable and that e.g., firewalls are not blocking communication on the configured port.

Can multiple proxies be used simultaneously?

Section titled “Can multiple proxies be used simultaneously?”

Yes. You can run multiple proxies and assign each to specific targets/ranges to cover different network zones.

Proxies use the credentials configured in the main vScope. Add and assign credentials in vScope; proxies do not store or manage their own credentials.

Why is my proxy shown as “Pending” in vScope Master?

Section titled “Why is my proxy shown as “Pending” in vScope Master?”

Pending means the proxy has been approved but the master is waiting for the first communication/data from the proxy. Ensure connectivity on the proxy→master port (default 4445). Try to restart the proxy if needed and or contact support.

How do proxies communicate with the master?

Section titled “How do proxies communicate with the master?”

Proxies initiate an outbound connection to the main vScope over a single TCP port (default 4445). All scans and settings are orchestrated by the master; proxies do not scan independently.
