NetApp
Integrating NetApp storage with vScope enhances asset visibility by adding detailed information from your NetApp environment. The connection setup varies depending on whether your NetApp system is in Clustered Mode or 7-Mode. Follow the instructions below based on your specific configuration.
Requirements
Mode | Target | Credential |
---|---|---|
Clustered Mode | SVM IP address (not cluster IP) | vsadmin account |
7-Mode | IP address of the NetApp Filer | NetApp admin account |
By following these steps, vScope will be able to inventory and display detailed data from your NetApp storage system, whether it’s in Clustered Mode or 7-Mode.
Clustered Mode
For NetApp systems in Clustered Mode, it’s recommended to use the SMI-S (Storage Management Initiative Specification) Agent for integration with vScope. The SMI-S agent enables vScope to gather information from your NetApp system efficiently.
-
Download and Set Up the NetApp SMI-S Agent
- Start by downloading the SMI-S Agent from NetApp’s official site:

Configure the Target and Credentials
- Target: Use the IP address of a Storage Virtual Machine (SVM). Note that:
- The IP should not be a cluster or node management IP; it must be a cluster SVM IP.
- Only the
vsadmin
user role is supported for accessing cluster SVMs.
- Credential: Use the account credentials set up during the SMI-S agent installation.
- Target: Use the IP address of a Storage Virtual Machine (SVM). Note that:
7-Mode (“Non-Clustered”)
If your NetApp system is configured in 7-Mode (non-clustered), follow these steps to add it as a data source in vScope:
- Set the Target and Credentials
- Target: Use the IP address of the NetApp Filer.
- Credential: Use an Admin account credential from your NetApp environment.
