Cannot Login/Locked Out

If you are unable to log in using a local vScope account:

  • Verify Credentials: Ensure that your username and password are correct. If you’ve forgotten your password, use the “Forgot Password” option on the login screen.
  • No Password Reset Email Received: If you do not receive an email for resetting your password, the email integration may not be set up correctly. In this case, contact your vScope administrator to reset your password.

SSO or Active Directory Login Issues

If you are unable to log in with an account managed through SSO or Active Directory (AD):

  • Use Correct Directory Credentials: Make sure you’re using the same credentials as you do for your AD account.
  • Check for Common Issues:
    • Credentials Updated in Directory: Your AD credentials may have changed.
    • Access Revoked: You may have lost access to vScope due to a change in group mapping or permissions by your administrator.
    • Directory Integration Issue: The LDAP/AD integration may be misconfigured or disabled. Learn more about LDAP/AD integration setup here.
  • Contact Administrator: For further assistance, contact your vScope administrator.

Common Errors

If you’re locked out of vScope, here are the most common causes:

Active Directory Connection

  1. Login with Local Admin Account: Use the local admin account created during the vScope installation.
  2. Verify Integration Settings: Go to Settings > Directory Integration or Single Sign-On and confirm that the connection settings are correct.

Changes to Directory Group Access

  • Verify Group Membership: Contact your directory administrator to ensure you are still part of the group allowed to access vScope.

Creating a Recovery User

If this did not solve your problem, you may need to create a recovery user. Please Contact Support for assistance with this process.

  1. Stop the vScope Service.

  2. Create a One-Time File:

    • Navigate to C:\vScopeData\global\usermanager.

    • Create a file named onetime and save it in UTF-8 format.

    • In this file, add the following details:

      recovery.username=USERNAME
      recovery.password=PASSWORD
      recovery.licenseid=[Contact Support](mailto:support@infrasightlabs.com) for License Instance ID
    • License Instance ID: This is a safety measure to verify your knowledge of the installation. Contact Support if you need help obtaining this ID.

  3. Restart the vScope Service:
    Upon restart, vScope will create a recovery user in the Admin group. The onetime file will automatically be deleted if the process is successful.

  4. Log In with Recovery User:
    Use the username and password from the onetime file to log in.

  5. Perform Recovery Actions:
    After logging in, you can take necessary recovery actions, such as:

    • Adding new users
    • Logging in as another user
    • Updating passwords or fixing directory integration settings
