Import Tags from XLSX

The “Import from file” feature allows you to import tags to vScope from an XLSX file. Watch the video below to learn more:

Step-by-Step Walkthrough

In this example, we’ll import tag values to the vScope tag “Migration Location”, which is currently empty. We have the correct values in an XLSX document, which we’ll use for our import.

Upload File

  • Click on Import from file in Tags and upload the XLSX file to vScope.
  • Click Next.

Match Import

  • Select the Asset type the information is meant for. Eg. All Machines.
  • Define the Matching rules between columns in vScope and the XLSX file. For example, match based on IPv4 or Name. Eg. “Name” column in the XLSX file with the vScope tag “Name”.

Import Value

  • Select the column in the file from which vScope will retrieve values.
  • Add that value to an existing tag in vScope or create a new one if it doesn’t exist.

Preview and Confirm

In the final step, preview the changes before confirming the import. If there are warnings, you can address them as needed. In this example, there are only 5 warnings, so we’ll proceed with the import, as 61 changes will be successful.

Done!

After completing the import, you can open the tag in its component table to view the imported values. Below is an example highlighting matching elements from the different steps.
