Disk & Storage

Due to vScope’s ongoing tracking of historical changes within your IT environment, disk usage may gradually increase over time. By default, vScope prunes historical data older than 60 months to manage disk storage, meaning disk usage should stabilize after approximately five years.

However, if your vScope installation’s disk usage becomes excessive, you can safely reduce disk space using one of the following methods. Note that directly deleting data is not available, as it may affect backup integrity and data consistency.

Method 1: Reset vScope’s Database Model

If you need to completely reset the database model, you can reset the entire vScope database through Settings > Database & Backup.

Method 2: Adjust Historical Data Retention Period

vScope is configured to keep five years of historical data by default, which can require substantial disk space. To reduce disk usage, you may lower the data retention period to three or two years.
