By default, vScope inventories as many assets as possible from a data source. This way vScope will always reflect what’s in your data sources. However, sometimes you might want to customize what vScope inventories, eg. ignoring disabled computers or inactive user accounts.

Discovery Manager in vScope includes customizations of what to inventory from each data source. You can find this setting under Discovery Manager -> Credentials -> Select Credential -> Advanced.

Example

This is how you can customize the inventory for Active Directory:

Ignore Disabled Computers: Choose inventory computers that are marked as disabled in Active Directory. This way you can focus vScope’s inventory on more relevant computers.

Don’t Create Smart Targets for Clients: For any clients in Active Directory, customize the creation of targets to be used for additional OS discovery (eg. Windows).

Ignore Disabled Users: Don’t inventory user accounts that are marked as disabled in Active Directory.

Don’t Create Smart Targets for Servers: For any servers found in Active Directory, customize the creation of targets to be used for additional OS discovery (eg. Windows).

Ignore Clients: Don’t inventory computer objects with a client operating system (eg. Windows 10).

Ignore Servers: Don’t inventory computer objects with a server operating system (eg. Windows Server 2016).

Ignore Computer without Operating System: Choose to inventory computer objects without any OS information. This can help you increase the data quality for more relevant assets.
